The First Training Course For The Academic Staff Of The Erasmus-Funded Childhood Education Development Project In Palestine
The completion of the first training course for the academic staff of the Erasmus-funded project to promote early childhood education and care in Palestine.
A delegation that included thirteen participants from the Palestinian universities partner in the project to promote early childhood education and care in Palestine ended its visit to the University of Bergansa in Portugal with the aim of building the capacity of faculty members in the field of early childhood, so this training is the first training in a series of upcoming courses according to The activities of the project, where this training dealt with educational supervision of students who are trained in institutions concerned with early childhood, especially nurseries and kindergartens.
The training started on Monday, 20/6/2022 and continued until Friday, 24/6/2022
Where the first meeting started at nine in the morning with a welcoming speech from the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Burgansa, Dr. Mario Cardoso, followed by a discussion of the training objectives and agenda, and the session was moderated by Cristina Mesquita.
As for the second session of the first day, which was moderated by Dr. Manuel Luis Pinto Castanheira presented a presentation on the pastoral and educational system for early childhood in Portugal and the legislation on childhood and academic degrees and their requirements granted by Portuguese universities and educational institutions.
As for the second, third and fourth day, it included field visits to three nurseries and kindergartens, one from the governmental sector (Saint Maria), a private one (Saint Clara), and a semi-governmental one (Al-Kritas). The participants were distributed and divided among the three institutions, so that each team included four Participants, as well as accompanying d. Christina and Dr. Louis and a number of doctoral students who took over translation from Portuguese into English, and the visits were rotated among the participants so that whoever visits (St. Maria) today visits (St. Clara) the next day and visits (Caritas) on the third day and so on for each group
The visits aimed to get a close look at good professional practices in the field of early childhood from several aspects, namely the program and daily routine, educational activities and events, the roles and qualifications of kindergarten and nursery educators…etc.
On the fifth and final day of the visit and the training course, it was interspersed with watching and attending a lecture by Dr. Lewis with master’s students who are doing field training in kindergartens and nurseries, during which the topics that are focused on in the field training procedures were reviewed from the role of the student, the role of the nanny, the role of a member of the training body and reports And the projects that the student is required to complete during the field training, as well as the most important items for student evaluation and the evaluation mechanism
At the end of the training course, the Vice President of the University, Dr. Louis Pais, attended, who praised the success of the training course, thanking his colleagues from the university for their supervision and handling of the training process, and conveying the greetings of the President of the University of Bergenza to the participants in the course and expressing his cooperation in the future.
And Dr. spoke. Iyad Abu Bakr from Al-Quds Open University, and on behalf of the participants, in a speech in which he explained the lessons learned from this course and the experiences that were gained to reflect them on the project’s outputs according to the plan on which it is proceeding.
